Professional metal 3D printer by DMG MORI

As a global full-liner with over 20 years of experience in the additive manufacturing of metallic components, DMG MORI has become renowned for innovative manufacturing technologies, worldwide service and the highest level of occupational safety in metal 3D printing.

For additive manufacturing, DMG MORI offers the LASERTEC DED series, a process that utilises a powder nozzle, and the LASERTEC SLM series, a process using a powder bed. With the combination of metal 3D printing and high-precision machining centres, DMG MORI offers its customers comprehensive process expertise – from drawings to finished parts.

Powder bed or powder nozzle: 3D printers process metal in a variety of ways

The term "additive manufacturing" is used to describe a wide range of industrial manufacturing technologies. DMG MORI's metal 3D printers use either a powder nozzle or powder bed technology. DMG MORI's comprehensive process allows objects to be produced using metal 3D printing featuring complex properties, demanding geometries and high strength, which are on a par with those produced using conventional manufacturing in terms of their mechanical properties. Additive manufacturing creates genuine added value for customers, in particular through functional integration and lightweight structures.

A clever combination: additive manufacturing and CNC machining

DMG MORI has been a successful player on the market since 2013, with its combination of laser deposition welding and machining on the LASERTEC DED hybrid series machines. The LASERTEC 65 DED for pure laser deposition welding acts as a supplement to an existing range of machining centres, while the LASERTEC SLM series expands the portfolio to include the powder bedding process using Selective Laser Melting.

The combination of additive manufacturing technologies with conventional CNC machines enables DMG MORI to achieve four individual and demand-oriented process chains. CELOS completes the range of processes offered by the LASERTEC series, as an integrated software solution for CAM programming and machine control. One special feature of the LASERTEC DED hybrid series is that the component does not leave the machine when switching between CNC machines and laser deposition welding.

Laser deposition welding: additive repair

DED (Directed Energy Deposition) type LASERTEC machines use a powder nozzle for laser deposition welding. Components are built up layer by layer, which can even be realised with different materials. Be it prototypes or small series and repairs or coatings: the LASERTEC 65 DED is the technical tool of choice whenever metallic 3D components have to be produced using additive processes and at a high level of performance.

Popular within numerous industries: machines for selective laser melting

Selective laser melting is an additive process whereby metal powder is welded on by one or more lasers, layer by layer. LASERTEC SLM machines offer impressive accuracy and the highest level of work safety.

The LASERTEC series from DMG MORI includes the LASERTEC 30 SLM 3rd Gen. and the LASERTEC 12 SLM, two systems of different sizes that are used in a wide range of industries, such as automotive, aerospace and medical technology.

Metal 3D printer: a wide range of materials and integrated reprocessing

DMG MORI offers its customers an extensive powder portfolio in the field of additive manufacturing. Options include tool steel, aluminium, stainless steel and cobalt chrome, as well as Inconel and titanium. All materials are validated on a LASERTEC SLM machine, meet strict quality standards and arrive with our customers "ready to use". The closed material circuit and integrated filter station enable automatic reprocessing and a consistently high quality of powder.
